Though the simple door is often overlooked, the right one, or the way it's finished, can make a statement and present a strong focal point for a home.

Conversely, an old, weathered, misaligned or maladjusted door can be a nuisance and an eyesore.

Whether interior or exterior, adding new, replacing, repairing or refinishing, having a properly installed and trimmed door is an asset to any home.

Due to the labor involved, unless it is a very special door worthy of the high cost of labor to install it, I recommend replacing old doors with a new, prehung. Some other things to consider when replacing a door are the type of weather resistance, soundproofing, (fire rating if needed), etc.
